Flight review: Aegean Airlines Athens to Düsseldorf Economy Class (3 August 2024)

Flight and aircraft info

Date: 3 June 2024
Flight: Aegean Airlines A3840
Origin/Destination: Athens, Greece (ATH) to Düsseldorf, Germany (DUS)

Athens International Airport

Check-in

Separate check-in counters for Business Class and Star Alliance Gold passengers. I was done checking my luggage within a minute.

Gate and boarding

A fully separate queue for Business Class and Star Alliance Gold passengers was setup and was fully respected. I boarded first, after only one passenger with a walking condition and her companion, who were allowed before me of course. There is typically a small chaos after that, during economy boarding 🙂

I reached the plane through a boarding bridge (Gate B13).

Cabin

An oldish Airbus A32x (not one of their new A32x NEO aircraft).

At least it was equipped with WiFi, which worked well for around 80% of the flight time (a good performance this time, I’ve experienced much worse with Aegean and others).

Onboard catering and service

What you see is what you get 🙂

  • A paper napkin and a sanitizing wipe
  • A choice between a Greek cheese pie or an apple pie for a meal
  • Two Oreo-type biscuits (best Greek brand) for dessert
  • A large selection of beverages (sodas, juices, still and sparkling water, beer, and wines) in paper cups
  • Coffee, tea and water offered after the meal service
