Needless Travels

Travels feel nicer when they're not neccessary

Hotel review: Hampton by Hilton Stuttgart City Centre (6 May 2024)

Room type booked: Queen with sofa bed.
Room allocated: 805
I visited (and was acknowledged) as a Hilton Honors Gold member. There was no better room type for a free upgrade available at the hotel, and breakfast is always free at Hampton’s anyway, so I was offered a voucher for a drink and snack at the hotel bar.

Location

The hotel’s location is rather good, although not exactly central. It is situated next to Stuttgard’s largest shopping mall (Milaneo) and the famous Stadtbibliothek (Stuttgart City Library, a must-visit in town). There are stops for two different metro lines at one and five minutes walk from the hotel. You need one metro stop to reach the central train station and one more stop for the city center and palaces (Schlossplatz).

View

The hotel doesn’t offer much in terms of view. There’s lots of train tracks to look at, as the hotel is located behind the main train station.

Public areas

The hotel offers plenty of seating in the lobby, plus a small bar for drinks and snacks.

Room

The room was simple, but it felt modern and new. Comfortable bed, a sofa, a desk for working and floor-to-ceiling windows. Equipment included an iron and ironing board, and a water boiler for tea/coffee.

Bathroom

Like the room, the bathroom was simple but new and clean. Nothing to complain about.

Breakfast

The variety and quality of the breakfast buffet were adequate but basic, as expected at an affordable chain. The Hampton “bake it yourself” waffle maker is the highlight here, of course.

Fitness center

The gym was reasonably well equipped with modern fitness equipment. There was no wellness area/sauna though.
